Lots of questions about this trait. I have some assumptions on how it works but I'm not going to write them to avoid biasing anyone's answers.
Does the model need to know these powers already to combine them? If so do you pay for them twice? (once for the powers and once again for the cost of abyssal weapons)
If not what are the rules for picking these powers? Does the model need to have traits from the domains of these powers, following traditional power selection rules for fey?
If you can choose to take powers you do not already know and combine them for abyssal weapons are you considered to then know those powers for the purposes of taking tier 2 powers from their spheres of influence or is the abyssal weapon power something else.
It is called abyssal weapons but does not actually call out any restrictions on what can be imbued. Could you combine two powers that imbue armor as an abyssal weapon?
Hey Benjamin,
Abyssal Weapons will need a minor faq/errata.
The weapon imbued will grant an an enhancement to any other enhancement the weapon is receiving. So if you have another enhancement for your weapon this will be a bonus added to the item. (it does not need to be from an imbued power, but can be)
So yes you would need another imbued power for Abyssal Weapon to be applied however you get it.
Where it says "Any model that has abilities or powers from the Path of Light greatly enhances the weapon to +2 to the weapons enhancement. "
This should say "Any model Targeted that has abilities or powers from the Path of Light greatly enhances the weapon with an additional +2 to the enhancement without adding additional properties to the weapon"
I hope that helps.
I'm not sure what you mean by the imbued weapon granting an enhancement to another enhancement. Are we picking one power which will then be allowed to stack with other powers? Also the other text you put is for infernal weapons which I don't think was a part of abyssal weapons. Sounds like I'll need to wait on the faq/errata on this one though. It's a complicated ability.
Sounds like Benjamin was talking about The trait
Infernal weapons x: abyssal weapons. (Prerequisite infernal hordes trait)
Take two imbued weapons power for a combined cost but one has to come from darkness and the other can from either twilight light or darkness.
And Netfka was referencing the 1st tier Infernal power: Infernal weapons that give a +1 to the weapon unless against light where it gets an additional +1
Got it. Yea two different things. Thanks for putting me on the right path.
The Abyssal Weapon ability does not grant an additional powers or further be able to select additional traits, just allows you to combine two together into a single power. Abyssal Weapons has no point cost on it's own.
Looking at it though it becomes difficult to select three traits for this ability to work. We will look at this one. Once I can get playtesters back we will look at this to see if we should errata it to include bonus selections of 1st Tier Imbued Powers.
@natfka Ok thanks, so it should be a 0 point ability then that allows the model to have 2 imbued powers on the same item (presumably you can use 2 imbued defensive powers as well?). It could be neat to build a faction around this though difficult as the infernal sphere only has 1 imbued power in it and then you'd need to take multiple abilities to get powers out of another sphere. Seems really neat though.
@Benjamin Rubenstein I know in playtesting when this ability was used it was for Archlords who tend to have more access to traits, even crossing over light and darkness traits with Rebel Lords.
We will still take a look at the trait though and for certain plan to errata "X" to 0pts. Plus put in a little clarification or example.
