Forbidden Knowledge states that "adhere to the rules of taking traits as if you were of that Domain"does this mean when taken we must adhere to the additional rules for the branch as well. Reptilica bloodlines were covered in the description, but the certain Fey traits (Primal, Celestial, Infernal) have additional rules to them such as not being able to take Tier 2 traits if the correct path has not been taken as well as being unable to take from both Light and Dark traits together.
If taken through the use of Forbidden Lore are we bound to the sphere of Influence, Evolutionary Branch, or Classification, or Lineage restrictions as well?
That is quite literally awesome. Can not wait to see more of this one and hear how they develop and advance.
Ive talked very little about terrain manipulation, but it’s a tremendous amount of fun during games. Just taking it as one of your battle plans adds a different level to the game.
Your faction would still be following the caveat that you would not be able to take Infernal 2nd Tier Traits since you selected the Path of Twilight.
Celestial, Infernal, and Primal all have those restrictions and the traits in that 2nd Tier are a little more powerful or focused. If there was one trait specifically that you were looking for in the 2nd Tier taking forbidden lore could get it for the class with forbidden lore (like Nether Lord). However since your faction was not created in the Path of Darkness, the rest of your faction would not be able to take 2nd Tier traits.
When taking the Forbidden Lore Trait you are not bound by domain rules when selecting your Forbidden Lore Trait. Just about anything that does not specifically forbid Forbidden Lore may be selected.
What this now does is open up the rest of the branch/sphere/lineage to the rest of your faction to be taken as Faction Traits and or Class Traits. When taking these traits, you must follow the guidelines for taking these traits for example........
1. How to unlock and take 2nd Tier traits for all the domains.
2. Any prerequisites listed with the traits, like Disciplines and Ancestral Traits.
3. Follow any restrictions placed on the branches as if you were a part of the domain.
What you do not do is go through the creation process as part of that new domain. If you started as Humanoids you still use Humanoid Classes. Do not add any new mandatory traits, do not select a Path of Light or Darkness, and do not replace your starting characteristics listed under Start Here for each domain.
If you take a trait that would change your Starting Characteristics for your class or faction, as if you were a part of that Domain then yes, this would change your Characteristics.
Forbidden Lore really opens up the game and allows for some great story lines. Like that Wizard that takes Forbidden Lore and takes a trait from Sphere of Death and then wants to start turning all his or her classes into undead!
Taking Forbidden Lore traits in your Faction. Since no model can take the same trait twice, it is possible to have your level 3's each take forbidden lore to specialize in a new area. This would be one way that your faction could have classes with access to the Path of Darkness and Light. Of course you would have to separate your classes as darkness or light as you cannot have a model with traits from both on it.
I am thinking I will be doing a video on Forbidden Lore.
The current line up for How to Create videos is to wrap up the Biests, and Insekts. Also to include Creating Monsters, Creating and Customizing Natural Weapons and Defenses, Powers , and then one on Taking Forbidden Lore.
Biests is almost ready. Followed by Monsters, and then Ill do one on Forbidden Lore this week.
