I just noticed that in addition to the only 2 weapons, that your total amount of gear can't exceed your discipline. For the purposes of counting gear does:
1) A barded mount count as 1 piece of gear (since the horse has the option to get armor) or 2 (since the model is taking two independent options)
2) A wagon or chariot include its mounts and/or barding or does each piece count as a separately as gear? (If so, since this isn't military gear can you count different pieces against different squad members?)
Horse with barding is just 1.
As for the others like military weapons and other shared equipment like a wagon, the wagon counts as 1 against the pool of the squad with it. It does not count as 1 for every person in the squad.
Mounts for the wagon should just be included in the wagon. They are just options for the wagon.
The intention is to be more flexible and not so restrictive. I think this will need to be a FAQ question to be clear of the intention.
For example: A squad of two with a discipline of 3.
Wagon with mounts etc count as 1 from the over all equipment allowed for the squad. So one member of the squad would still have 2 available items... (like a weapon and armor), and then the other could equip something in addition like a crossbow or operate a Scorpio.
Naturally, that's what I'd like to think for cavalry as well.
It seems like the chariot as a whole should count as one piece of gear especially if you're assessing it against multiple models. Count mounts separately, keeps your crew nearly naked.
For "shared" gear should "all models" be all models using that piece of gear or everyone in the unit regardless? Artillery batteries are still (barely) doable under the latter reasoning, but you are pretty heavily limited on other equipment.
I believe that the barded mount counts as one piece of gear, since the mount is purchasing the armor for itself(talking horses when) and counting that against the two pieces of gear allowed by its Discipline.
As for the vehicles, that's less clear to me. I want to say that the vehicle counts against everyone in the driving squad as one piece of gear, as per the rules for shared operation, and then each of the drivers throws in their remaining Discipline to purchase mounts?
So say there's two drivers with Discipline 3. The chariot or wagon counts against them both while they're driving, but between the two of them they can buy up to 4 mounts to pull the vehicle.
