MLP FiM inspired faction

That sounds like the way to go, but I have another idea!

How about going Biest with the Caballis Kingdom. Good stats to begin with and some interesting traits.

Follow that with the Occult Trait for all your classes (since it is a class trait). This will be difficult as it is a class trait and your lower level classes only start with one, but this way they can aid in the casting of powers (after all friendship is magic!). As you advance though you can add different traits combinations that will be unlocked through forbidden lore- see below

The Occult branch has Forbidden Lore in the 2nd Tier. The idea would be that each level 3 you have, and the ones you create in the future would take forbidden Lore as a class trait and select a new Fey Sphere. You would be creating cults within your faction led by your level 3's from these specific spheres either in Light or Darkness. You would not have access to Twilight Spheres this way.... although Im certain you might figure something out for Twilight Sparkle.

So I imagine 3-4 Level 3 classes each one specializing in their own Sphere through Forbidden Lore. Even your Level 5 could could take one something special, but I will leave that up to you. Princess Celestia?

The interesting thing is that you would be opening up each Sphere to your entire faction. You could create some very unusual combinations!

Hmmmm. Now Im thinking just how much fun this build would be. Craziness.

You could have an entire cartoon simply based on this with ponies with Spheres of Light and Darkness going on adventurers and even Discord would be possible to create.
