I've been looking at the Karthru'Ak Empire sample faction to make my own Reptilia faction. And I want to do something similar as the "Advanced Karthru'Ak Blades 10pts" on page 74 of the Core rulebook. I deconstructed it as follows:
Class Iz'Fas Legionnaire has "Saurien Weapons (Armory): Advanced Melee Weapons" trait
It has access to "All Common Weapons and Armor"
On page 77 on the Core Rulebook I indeed see "Enhancement Strength 1" at Advanced Karthru'Ak Blades 10pts (page 122 from the 1st age book explains this on page 153)
On page 60 (1st Age book) it says "Saurien Weapons (Armory): Advanced Melee Weapons 8pts" (note the points cost) --> At this point I assume it's been left out of the Karthru'Ak Empire sample faction, because equipment is added while making your armylist and not a trait pts cost that adds up to your total class point cost.
So then I assume a weapon has been choosen from the Armory to make the Advanced Karthru'Ak Blades which costs 2 pts (10pts - 8 pts = 2pts) and must be a Melee weapon due to the aformentioned trait --> Which brings me to page 114 of the 1st Age book, Basic Weapon Melee Weapon 2pts from Common Arms and Armor
Question 1) Did I do this correctly?
Question 2) Why does it say "Troglodyte Slicer Blades 14pts" on page 77 of the Core rulebook and "Trog Slicer Blade 12pts" (notice difference in points) on page 75 (not looking for mistakes/just something that threw me off while trying to make my own weapon)?
Question 3) I am trying to make a Javelin to be exact, so I wanted to use "Javelin 4pts" on page 115: It says in the description "Javelins are limited ammo items..." but it doesn't have "Limited Ammo" attribute like with "Primitive Spear/Javelin" on page 114 --> Does the Javelin on page 115 use the profile of the Primitive Spear on page 114 as also stated in the description except for the attributes it overrides?
Thank you very much for replying. Much appreciated. And sorry for the long post. This can be quite daunting for a newbee.
The Javelin would have it's normal Common Weapon Profile when used as a throwing weapon, but when used in melee it is a primitive weapon since it is designed to be used as a throwing weapon. So you would use the Common Weapon profile for throwing, and then for melee use the spear/javelin Primitive Profile for melee.
The ability Spear and Shield will allow the use of both shield and your Javelin/spear, since a Javelin is technically being used as a primitive spear in melee combat.
This would very much be the Zulu warrior weapon style of fighting.
Oohh right! Yeah just literately follow the wording, I see. The missing keyword "Limited Ammo" has just thrown me off I guess. Thank you so much for clarifying!
Sorry for all these questions. Going to have a game with a mate of mine wednesday evening via Tabletop Simulator (he bought the digital version of the books today, yeah). First time action for my faction: Yum Cimil Weyr!
@Danny van der Kraan Most excellent. Your definitely my heroes able to get games in. My son who is 13 and loves creating factions has a new Chaos Fey Faction he is dying to get to the table.
@natfka Well let us mess about with Tabletop Simulator for a bit and when we've got the hang of it, maybe your son can join one of our games and we'll simulate a battle with his Chaos Fey Faction. Right now we're trying to find digital proxies for our models on TTS. My sons are too young unfortunately (6 and 4), but they are always eyeballing my mini's in awe. :D
1. It looks like you deconstructed properly.
2. Slicer Blades are a Troglodyte melee weapon with Advanced Weapons 1. They should be 12pts when added up together.
Melee weapon 2pts
2 handed weapon upgrade 2pts - +1 strength
Advanced Weapon upgrade 8pts- +1 strength
Troglodyte weapons is not a armory trait instead applying to the faction and does not add any additional properties, so applies to any two handed weapon picked up. This grants the weapon an additional +1 strength for a total enhancement 3.
3. Javelins should be a limited ammo item. Use the Javelin profile and as a Limited Ammo item.
Think I got it.
To clarify on Q3, is it:
A) Use the Javelin profile on page 115, as in part of the profile is missing? Because then I'm missing Threat Range, right? And I wonder if it can be used combined with Shields (because the primitive spear/javelin on page 114 cannot).
B) Use the profile of the Primitive Spear/Javelin on page 114, except where the profile of the Javelin on page 115 overrides (as it says "in melee its like a primitive spear")? Makes more sense to me, because then I know my Threat Range is +1. I'd lose the shields unfortunately (I love shields on models)
Thank you in advance for replying.
